The current BMJ includes an obituary to Brice Pitt: emeritus professor of old age psychiatry who died in January of this year. He was clearly regarded highly by his colleagues and carried his wide range of interests into his approach to his profession.

The obituary refers to ‘Down with Gloom!’ a  widely disseminated and read book which Professor Brice Pitt co-wrote with the cartoonist Mel Calman.
