A few selected extracts from ‘The Plague’ by Albert Camus.
I find that I very much identify with the philosophy of Camus, and read alongside Mary Midgley he offers something that really matters to health and wellbeing.
I recently read ‘The Fall’ by Albert Camus. It is about the demise of a narcissitic lawyer who ends up loathing himself. Several of the passages returned my thoughts to considerations of psychiatry. Many years ago I made a film entitled ‘By Yellow Lights Tormented’. It was about the neon-yellow British Journal of Psychiatry which I had read for over two decades. In this film I tried to share why, like a number of poets and writers, I have a dislike of artificial neon lighting.
