Turnalt

The auld hoose of Turnalt in Argyll is now semi-ruinous. However it still carries grace in its symmetry and proportions. It had ‘Adam style’ before there was Adam.

Turnalt hoose was built by Campbell of Barbreck. He was a military man from a Military family. A later generation of the Campbell family of Barbreck were close friends of the geographer and philosopher Patrick Geddes.

In one of the open windows I came across a book with pages flapping open in the wind. The book was “The Strange Case of Mr Todmorden” by Frederick Britten Austin who also wrote “According to Orders“. But then the clock stopped at 10 o’clock.
