SINGER Factory, Clydebank

On Saturday we watched ‘Scotland from the Sky’ presented by James Crawford.   In the first episode James returned to Clydebank where the monumental SINGER factory used to be. It is now only memories and old photographs.

The above photograph is from 1926 and shows six SINGER women carrying the giant clock hand. This image returned my thoughts to Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas and this line by the narrator: “Time passes. Listen. Time passes.”
