Robert Rust

On the last day of July 2020 I visited the esate of SeaPark in Morayshire. The mansion house is currently in a poor state and is on the Buildings at Risk Register. The walled garden survives as do some of the original glasshouses.

SeaPark was once known across Scotland for it’s very fine garden. Captain Dunbar-Dunbar and his wife, together, made a whole garden out of love. Mrs Dunbar had a particular love of Sweet Peas.

At SeaPark, George Rust employed his nephew, Robert Rust Topen, as an Assisatnt gardener. In July 1887, Robert Rust Topen had £5 stolen out of his ‘lockfast trunk’:

Robert Rust Topen went on to be the Foreman gardener at Balgay, Dundee. He died suddenly in September 1933:
