Little Tullybelton

I visited Little Tullybelton last Sunday [5th July 2020]. I found a forlorn scene. Detritus surrounded the abandoned farm of Little Tullybelton. The smell of degrading waste was overwhelming.

The poet, Robert Nicholl, was born at Little Tullybelton, where a michty monument to his poetic work still stands in a field.

By the time of the first world war, the inscription on this monument had become so weathered that it had to be re-inscribed:

‘I have written my heart in my poems’
