Winifred Roberts

It was distressing to come across this newspaper account of the death of Winifred Gwendoline Roberts, a 27 year old nurse, who once worked at Bangour Hospital. Most sadly, the driver of the car involved, was my grandfather Rab Scott.

I could have just left this awful tragedy lost deep in the archives. However that did not feel right to me. For her family, all her friends and for my grandad, I would like you to remember Winifred.

The hospital that Winifred worked in is now empty and the gateway closed. I used to pass it by every morning on my way to work as a doctor in St John’s, Livingston.
