Dr Peter Brunt

This week’s BMJ shared an obituary of Dr Peter Brunt. I was sad to learn of his death. My first ever medical ward round was with Dr Brunt at Woodend Hospital, Aberdeen. He was an inspiring doctor. I recall the way that he carefully listened to patients and how important their experiences of life were to his understanding of their current medical situation. I also recall that he wrote in patients notes in a green pen and shared what he had written with patients.  Kindly, after that first ward round he took me aside and praised me for the considerations I had given on a patient.
