St Medan’s cave

When on the Mull of Kintyre Peter and Sian went to try and find this cave/chapel.

We found that this, the most southern “chapel” in Scotland, no longer survives. It has collapsed – though we could see where the roof had been as ivy was hanging forlornly. We could also just make out a lintel in the rubble of the collapse.

To get to St Medan’s the best access is by East Tarbet bay which has the quay that once served the Mull of Galloway lighthouse. Beside this quay was a ruined cottage:
