I recently visited Inverardoch estate near Doune and made this short film about Inverardoch house [demolished in 1950] and this short film on Inverardoch mausoleum.
One of the stalwarts of Inverardoch was the estate gardener, later overseer, David White [1842-1915]. this post shares a little of his life story.

In early spring 1900, Isabella, the wife of David White died in the Gardener’s cottage. A widower, but still very active, David continued in his job as gardener and estate overseer. He had no family to help him.
A few years later, David White married Christine Osborne [widow of the estate gamekeeper] and on the 14th April 1903 in the gardeners cottage a son was born [John’s only child]. Sadly, this beloved son died in the autumn of 1915 as a result of meningitis:
