This film is based on a recent journey to Deeside to meet with a friend to walk to Glenbardy. The weather was terrible with incessant rain and flooding. Whilst in Deeside I visited Abergeldie castle. It looked forlorn. I closed the gate [perhaps for the last time]. I then took the Cairn o’ Mount road to Montrose where I stayed in the Star Hotel. As a medical student I used to travel by stagecoach between Edinburgh and Aberdeen. The coach used to stop not far from the Star Inn. But that was many years ago.
