Richard Henry Browne

Richard Henry Browne [born 1802] was admitted to Mavisbank Asylum on the 6th November 1879.  He died there, two years later:

The informant, on Richard’s death, was the Asylum’s Head Attendant. The death certificate records that the hospital did not seem able to provide the names of Richard’s parents.

This is a silhouette of Richard’s father, William Browne, born in Lucknow, 1862:William Browne [1762-1833] was the son of an Irish officer in the East India Company. His mother was a Persian woman of a ‘high degree’ [the widow of a Persian prince]. William was educated in England but was treated as a ‘half-cast’:

His sixth child was Richard Henry Browne, who died in Mavisbank in 1882:
