Yesterday, with several other volunteers, I was back helping Kate, the Head Gardener for Bannockburn House Trust. I feel fortunate to be a wee part of this wonderful community endeavour and for the opportunity to learn whilst trying to help others.
Working in Bannockburn’s orchard – where the young fruit trees were beginning to first blossom – my thoughts returned to Drumdruills, where my maither’s family planted a new orchard. That orchard began in 1893 and today some of the trees are still growing, blossoming, and fruiting!
