Returning from Ayrshire I listened to a radio interview of Ian McEwan. The following short film is carried by some of what he said.
Whilst in Ayrshire (I was there to try and find an Adam tearoom) I came across a mausoluem. It looked so familiar. I later discovered that the St Quivox mausoleum for the Campbell family of Craigie was designed by Playfair.
William Henry Playfair (1790-1857) was a 19th century Scottish architect. His best work survives in Edinburgh.
This film considers Playfair and Paestum.
It was at Paestum that love began.
