A sailor’s grave

Traigh Bhan, Kilberry Bay, Knapdale, Argyll.

Peter visited the unknown sailor’s grave on Monday 4th February 2019

The stone is on machair, immediately adjacent to the shore. It is trapezoidal in shape, bearing at the top the legend “A Sailor’s Grave” and lower down on the same side the name “A. Henderson”. A Henderson was the mason and the grave is that of a sailor cast up on the beach in the 1840s (M Campbell, pers comm).
