What follows is a timeline put together on the area of Maidencraig, Aberdeen, where for several centuries a giant mill-wheel turned. Next to Maidencraig was Oldmill, which became the site of a Reformatory before becoming Oldmill Hospital [later known as Woodend].
It was at Woodend Hospital that I met Sian. This was in the Spring of 1990. We worked together as junior doctors, Sian was an SHO [Senior House Officer] I was a JHO [Junior House Officer]. We both recall attending “Maidencraig House” which was opened in 1984 to look after and support young chronic disabled individuals. Its ethos was to help facilitate an enriching life for these young adults.
