A drawer full of bottle labels

In CANMORE archives I recently came across this image of a drawer full of bottle labels. What wonderful 19 century contents and how rare for these to survive. Keen to learn more I started searching and this is what I have found:

September 1974: death of William Ernest Howden at Roseden, Coldstream. He was aged 90 and unmarried.
