‘His fund of old-world stories was constantly increasing’

I came across Daniel Muirhead by chance. He featured in the Scotsman newspaper in October 1860:

Bonaly, since the 1940s, has been a housing estate. This was where my family home was and where I spent my childhood. My parents still live there. Daniel Muirhead lived to an astonishing age, even by our times. The Dalry Cemetery ‘Record of Mortality’ reveals that those who were buried in the days before and after him died either in infancy or youth and from diseases that today we can  prevent through vaccines.
