This is an artistic film by a ‘modern ruin’.
The film carries some of my recent adventure in and around Lothian. I found Dryden bridge broken (the house was long ago demolished). I found Roslin Curling pond broken (but the marsh that has taken its place was full of life). At Humbie I found a broken Angel (on one of the finest 17th century tombstones that I have ever come across). At Ormiston Hall I found a broken doorway to the roofless fragment that survives. I then visited the Ormiston Yew, and under its ancient canopy – which has survived century after century – I realised that broken is only a word.
