I have written my heart in my poems

I visited Little Tullybelton last Sunday [5th July 2020]. I found a forlorn scene. Detritus surrounded the abandoned farm of Little Tullybelton. The smell of degrading waste was overwhelming.

Robert Nicoll (1814 – 1837) was a Scottish poet and lyricist whose life, although short, left a lasting impact.  He was born at Tullybelton, north of Perth:

I have written my heart in my poems:

At Little Tullybelton, where a michty monument to Robert Nicholl’s poetic work still stands in a field. By the time of the first world war, the inscription on this monument had been so weathered by time that it had to be re-inscribed: ‘I have written my heart in my poems’
