Solvitur ambulando

I recently searched the British Newspaper Archive for the first use of the word “psychiatry”. The earliest report that I found related to the proposal in the 1860s for Edinburgh to have a new Royal Infirmary (this was completed in 1879 and is now superseded by new Royal Infirmary at Little France).

Solvitur ambulando is a Latin phrase which means “it is solved by walking”.
