‘P R O O F’

This is a film about Glasgow Green Station.

The station was opened on 1 November 1895 and closed again on 2 November 1953.

The artist Douglas Gordon made a piece of public art out of what remained of it. He called this “PROOF”.

On 20 March 2012, what remained of the station’s façade was demolished. Network Rail cited public safety as the reason, claiming the façade had become unsafe after sustaining storm damage.

Music Track - credit to Dexter Britain (can be shared under common license)

Text and background narrative is from Johnny Rodger's "The Hero Building: an architecture of Scottish National Identity". To share this one would have to seek his permission. (this film is a homemade film based on my passion for architecture, art and Scotland)
