I do not recall Torshinach cottage. It was demolished long before my time.

This lay-by is just before the eastward entrance on the B9119 to the village of Garlogie [Aberdeenshire]. It is where Torshinach cottage once stood. I recall tractor drivers and lorries stopping here to take a break or eat their sandwiches.
The Ordnance Survey Book for the 1st Edition OS maps: “a small, one-storey thatched cottage in middling repair. Property of the Society of Advocates Aberdeen”:

By the time of the next edition of the ordinance survey map [c1898], Torshinach cottage was no longer marked:
