I have always been fascinated by gates and gateways.
My Granny often used to take me to Braid burn valley in Edinburgh. Here I paddled in the burn, tried to catch minnows and collect them in my pail. Occasionally there was a puppet show which we could watch from grass terraced steps that had been made on one side of the burn.
