I recently read ‘Letters to Camondo’ by Edmund De Waal. In Exploring this Parisian museum it shares writing at it’s most beautiful:
I was delighted to read that like Montaigne, Count Moïse de Camondo had a much loved circular library.
The ruined Adam mansion of Dalquharron had a circular library, found on the top floor and reached by a spiral stairway of Ayrshire stone. It is a library now gone but one that I still somehow covet. Some years ago I made this film about the library [I dedicated it to Alexander McCall Smith for magically reaching out to aspiring artists like myself]
