PATNA within us

Four years ago, almost to the day, I visited this mausoleum. I was exploring a forgotten past.

This mausoleum was erected by Dr William Fullerton in 1784 and placed at the end of a vista from the house. At one time the route to the mausoleum was lined by mighty Beech trees but these have not survived  and today the mausoleum is isolated and lost in a large field.

(1) I was awarded the Scottish Chapter prize in 1993 after graduating MLA distinction, in every subject, from the University of Edinburgh.  My design for Carstairs State Hospital was part of this award.
