Early this morning I headed north from Bridge of Allan. I stopped five miles on, at the Roundel.
The inscribed stone, that once stood central in the Roundel, was removed to Keir Estate by William Stirling-Maxwell.
The Roundel stone now stands in the grounds of the Smith Institute, Stirling.
The interpretation of the faded letters inscribed on the Roundel Stone has aroused endless debate. I will share some of this debate in a forthcomging blog, meantime, here are a few photographs taken at the Roundel, early this morning:
