Sir Francis Seymour Haden was a Victorian surgeon who is recalled as an artist, and particularly for his etchings. He was brother-in-law to James Abbott McNeill Whistler.
Seymour Haden’s father, also a doctor, was a graduate of Edinburgh’s Medical School. His father was a close friend of Jane Austen.
Francis Seymour Haden talked of his etchings as a “labour of omission”.
