The Creative Cell

In a local antique shop I recently came across some papers and ephemera that belonged to Christopher Murray Grieve [Hugh MacDiarmid]. Amongst this was a letter that he had received from the artist Charles Pulsford (1912-1989) sharing a thesis on ‘The Creative Cell‘ [seemingly a sort of forerunner to today’s digital platforms where ideas can easily be shared].


Charles Fulford was elected an Associate Member of the Royal Scottish Academy [RSA] in 1959. He is described by the RSA as having been “independent of mind, with certain anti-establishment views”. In relation to ‘The Creative Cell’, the RSA said:
