It is interesting to read these recent contributions from a young doctor in training and a retired doctor. Over a decade ago I had this letter published in the BMJ:
It is clear that over the long period that has passed since I wrote this letter that industry’s pervasive involvement in medical education has not changed. In this time I have retired from medicine.
Worryingly, Dr Selley’s conclusion to Daniel has repeatedly been found to be correct: “the education you are getting is dangerous”. We need to ask why Baroness Cumberlege’s recommendations are not being fully implemented by our Royal Colleges?
