Anger my heart

The original ordnance survey book of Scotland has the following entry: for the parish of Bunkle  in Berwickshire:

This natural feature is described as “A large basaltic Rock or cliff with numerous smaller rocks at its base in the bed of the Whiteadder River”.

Leonie Mhari has written this poem about this natural feature in Berwickshire’s landscape [Poetry Map of Scotland: poem No 151: Berwickshire]:

This special poem has encouraged me to visit ‘Anger my heart‘. On her website  Leonie Mhari explains that her concept of landscape is underpinned by her 2016 PhD thesis which focuses on the names of topographic features and investigates the role of perception and narrative in their naming.
