Ordnance Survey Book, 1865: “It is considered that the old chapel for Aboyne and Tullich stood adjacent to the Chapel Tree (NJ 4844 9996), the remains of a large ash tree. The Chapel Well was also near the tree but was destroyed ‘a few years ago’, no trace remaining.”
