to learn from the experience of others

Yesterday I was in the city of Perth with my wife Sian. It was in this wee Scottish city that Sian was born, where she grew up and was schooled [Sian was Dux medalist].  We took the opportunity to visit The Fair Maid’s House which has become a Science Centre  housing The Royal Scottish Geographical Society. If you are ever in Perth we would recommend it as a place worth visiting. It is a small place full of learning! On the walls and ceilings quotes have been painted. Somehow, I missed this one by Douglas Adams, but thankfully Sian drew my attention to it:

“Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.”
