One of my obessesions is with gates and gateways. The above gateway was designed in the 1840s for the Leith Walk Nursery of Eagle and Henderson:
Eagle and Henderson called this Nursery:
However it had formerly been the Physick Garden before this moved to Inverleith:
In the Scotsman of May 1849 this account of the Nursery was shared. It is amazing how an open gateway can lead to a new land:
