A place in Scotland’s story

This is the current window display for the shop ‘COLLECTIONS’ on Henderson Street, Bridge of Allan. The shop is closed at present due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

I am a collector of images of windows on everyday life. I particularly like to collect ephemera: such as rain-faded notices or graffiti written in chalk.

I once wrote this poem about my Magpie tendencies:

Magpie

If only I could soar like an eagle
to see the world as I cannot.

I am a magpie in black and white,
in flight through clouds,
seeking colour.

I am nosy, noisy, restless, bothered by life.
I pick up the pieces.
