Following the publication on the 30th May 2019 of the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Position Statement on Antidepressants and Depression, a number of newspapers described this as a “U-turn”. Whilst this statement was welcomed by many, including myself, some commentators highlighted that this “U-turn” had taken decades.
On the 3rd June 2019 the Royal College of Psychiatrists shared this magazine article: ‘Antidepressant Withdrawal Must Be Controlled – And So Must The Media Scaremongering’ and commentators have noted that this might represent a much quicker “U-turn”
