Marketing of “education” to psychiatrists in training

I was recently circulated this at work and asked to share it with trainee psychiatrists.

BAP is the acronym for the British Association for Psychopharmacology

I would not share this with any trainees despite the fact that my college, the Royal College of Psychiatrists, supports this “unprecedented educational offer”.

There is a conflation between marketing and education by this professional Association. Evidence has established that this approach can lead to unrealistic medicine and patient harm.

Declarations of those involved in BAP education [this will take some time to read].

In a previous post I shared a letter published in the BMJ by Dr Louisa Polak which asked “How much is too much medicine?”
