‘Il ne faut pas attacher le savoir à l’âme, il l’y faut incorporer’

Long ago, I was reading an article by Andrew Greig in which he suggested that everybody should read ‘Drawn from Life‘ by Michel de Montaigne. This book is now on a shelf beside me in my sanctum sanctorum [broken clock room] where I write. Last month, whilst on holiday in Dordogne with my wife Sian and daughter Rachel, we had the opportunity to visit Montaigne’s home and be in the very room where he wrote his essays.
