I was 3 years old in 1970. Recently I came across a photograph of an 1970 car brochure that had been pinned above the fireplace of a second floor, north-facing room of Gunsgreen House, Eyemouth. Nobody knows who pinned it there:
I may have only been three at the time of this brochure but my childhood memories are filled with images of cars like these!
This is Gunsgreen House. It is an imposing, John Adam, palladian-style house, built in 1753 on the very edge of the sea. You may not be surprised to hear that it has a fascinating history and that smuggling is involved!
So back to that colour brochure pinned above a fireplace in Gunsgreen House, Eyemouth. The brochure was produced by: ROOTES MOTORS LIMITED:
It is curious, the older that I get, the more often the vibrant colours of the 1970s come back to me!
