I was recently shared a letter sent to Dr Jane Raine, CEO of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency [MHRA] in relation to her impending intention to ‘step-down’. The short letter included this sentence : “I would hope that your absence will enhance patient safety but your successor will probably continue in the same mold acting as first line of defence for the pharmaceutical industry.”
