The above photograph was taken by William Edgar Evans in his boyhood. On the back he wrote:
“‘Waterproof Jim Tree’ beside the Addevans Burn, rendevous of the ‘Half-holiday Recreation Club’ a secret society of my early youth. (age 12 years). The tree grew at the upper end of the Braid Valley, then out in the country. ‘Waterproof Jim’, in which our rations were carried, was lost here for a week. W.E.E. 1900″
