Albert Bayne, DCM

Albert Alexander Bayne died, aged 21, on the 29th April 1916.

He was a “strapping lad” who had just been awarded the DCM (Distinguished Conduct Medal) for his bravery at the Battle of Loos.

A month later, and after a week of vacation at home in Milladd, by the Allan Water, he returned to France and at Hulluch was gassed. He died 2 hours later.

Milladd has not been down on any map.
