Enquiries to: Frank Rankin

Dear Dr Gordon
Freedom of Information request

In your email of 29 May you requested a copy of the “register of payments from pharmaceutical companies (and other relevant companies) to staff, in case of conflicts of interest” for NHS Education for Scotland.

We understand your request to refer to our register of hospitality and interests. The information held in that document is given in the table on the next page. Please also note that the register of interests for our Board members is available online here: http://www.nes.scot.nhs.uk/publicationsa… resources/corporate-publications/board-members-register-of-interests.aspx

You may also wish to note that NHS Education for Scotland is a training and educational organisation and does not procure or dispense drugs or medicines.

Dear NHS Education for Scotland,

Thank you for your reply to this FOI request.

Can I ask if the attached Hospitality Register is publically available via an on-line link as Scottish Government Guidance  suggests?

Can you also confirm if you have a Policy for your NHS employees on this?

I note that you say “NHS Education for Scotland is a training and educational organisation and does not procure or dispense drugs or medicines.” However it is education and scientific objectivity and transparency of all Conflicts of interest that matter. Education can also be under market influence and indeed this is the very point of these NHS wide FOI enquiries.
I will copy your reply below for ease of public access.

Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Peter J Gordon

“Can I ask if the attached Hospitality Register is publically available via an on-line link” It is not.

Can you also confirm if you have a Policy for your NHS employees on this?”
We do. It is the “Hospitality Policy.”
